Topic: User Clarification on Queue Submit Directives
Date Received: March 2, 2007
The suggestion for job script has to do with proper execution of commands in the script.
Currently, the number of nodes/cpus is either on the qsub
command or script
comments. The number of CPU's/nodes is then also required on the
mpirun
/ prun
commands. An environment variable or such would help
to keep these synchronized.

Both LSF and PBS have an environment variable called NCPUS (Number of CPUs). A user may specify NCPUS via a directive or on the submit command. The environment variable NCPUS can be passed to mpirun, or other parallel application execution commands. Please note that the NCPUS nomenclature was established prior to the advent of multi-core CPUs.
