A Problem Reporting Utility

When users encounter a hardware or some other type of problem on an HPC system, they generally contact the HPC Help Desk either by email or by phone. The process normally takes several iterations until the problem is resolved to the user's satisfaction.

The Baseline Configuration Team is very pleased to announce the availability of a utility called "qflag" which collects information about the user and the user's jobs and sends a message about the reported problem without any need to leave the HPC system.

By entering the following command line:

qflag IDENTIFIER

where IDENTIFIER is a valid job or reservation identifier, the utility qflag creates and sends an email to the HPC Help Desk with IDENTIFER, the system name, the user name, and user login. Through this capability, the HPC Help Desk has immediate access to the information to create and route a service request about problem jobs and reservations.
