Common Software Container Tools

This policy requires a "common" version of the software container tool, Apptainer, be
available to users on all HPCMP allocated HPC systems. Periodically, the Baseline
Configuration (BC) Team will review the version of Apptainer and will designate a newer
version to be the common version. This version will be the default for the module command
and made available by executing module load apptainer. Other versions of Singularity may be made available by executing module load singularity/<version>.
As of 14 March 2024, the BC common version is 1.2.4.
